Abstract

The article gives scholarly definitions and understandings of populism in order to emphasize distinctions between left-wing and right-wing populism – with an emphasis on issues linked to the latter – and to highlight recently discussed articulations between populism and communication. The necessity of using the exposed framework in a reflective and contextual manner is highlighted at the conclusion of the paper, along with remarks on the cases of Donald Trump and Jair Bolsonaro.
